WILSON POTTERY FOUNDATION GALA

This year, the Gala will be held at Jackson Park Hall, on the campus of Texas Lutheran University, September 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Ticket prices are $30 adults, children 12 & under $10. Below you will find the annual membership form. We are happy to announce new categories: 'Wilson Legacy and Lifetime' memberships. You do not want to miss this year's gala. There are new and exciting moments planned just for you...our supporters! The Gala is a fund-raising event sponsored by the Wilson Pottery Foundation. Funds generated by the event go toward supporting the financial needs of the Wilson Pottery Museum and we are shopping for a stamped H. Wilson & Co. pottery piece to add to the museum. If you have not been to the museum lately, on display is a 3-gallon stamped jug on loan in an upstairs room. The display has been extended until Gala showtime. Be sure to stop in and view it as well as new additions on display downstairs.

The Silent Auction is an exciting and fun centerpiece of our affair. Gala attendees are encouraged to bid on and purchase from a selection of prized showcase items. Family members who travel from near and far in support of this traditional event get to experience a mini-reunion atmosphere as they enjoy one another's company and a splendid meal.

Those attending the Gala, as well as those not attending, may wish to make a donation to the Patron List ($10 or more) or include a loved one in the "In Memory Of" donation list ($10 or more). If you are a business owner or you know of a business owner who would like to place an advertisement in the Gala program booklet, space is available at $25 for ¼ page, $50 for ½ page, and $100 for a full-page ad. For business cards, at least a ¼ page space purchase is required. Please ensure the advertisement fits within the boundaries of the page space purchased. Every ad received must be print ready. That is, the content of submitted ads will be printed as is. There will be no editing by the Gala Committee. Please submit ads to Paula King-Harper at paula.wpf@gmail.com or at (210) 850-4027. Submit your ads and your donation(s) on or before Saturday, August 10th, in order to ensure their inclusion on the printed program. You are also encouraged to purchase your Gala ticket(s) in advance by August 16th to secure your ticket order. The Gala Committee cannot guarantee ticket availability at the door on the day of the Gala.

Tickets can be obtained from your Gala Committee family member, the person who provided you tickets in the past, or from Jan Britt Dixson, the Gala Committee Chair. You can email her at jdixson97@gmail.com  for ticket requests and other Gala information.

The Gala provides attendees the opportunity to renew their annual membership dues with the Wilson Pottery Foundation. Though membership renewal is one of the focuses of the Gala, the Foundation will accept new memberships or membership renewals at any time. The Wilson Pottery Foundation is a 501(c)(3) compliant organization. All donations are tax deductible. Your continued support is sincerely appreciated.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to research, acquire, and preserve that part of Texas History made by the Wilson potters during the 19th Century. This includes, but is not limited to, the acquisition and restoration of the historic pottery sites, collecting Wilson pottery and artifacts, as well as the pottery of contemporary Texas potters, and displaying all for the enjoyment and enlightenment of all Texans, tourists, and school children.

Current Objectives

The Wilson Pottery Museum allows us to share the rich heritage of the Wilson Family. Thus, we continue to seek the funding necessary to enhance the museum contents and improve its ability to flourish.
We want to strengthen the bond among family members to create a greater awareness of our family legacy. Our goal is to encourage separate family groups to establish a centralized organization so that strategic planning such as fund raising can be better accomplished.  The Foundation hopes to manage the backfill soil erosion problem at the Capote pottery site.
